Our club has benefited over the last few months having a permit to workout at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby. Our group has seen the conditions change from dark and miserable to warm and scenic as we get into the heart of spring.

If you’re a Burnaby or Vancouver resident looking to take your running to the next level or just want a great way to spend Wednesday evenings with new friends, head to VFAC.ca to learn more and join.
Swangard Stadium Workouts! As it gets harder and Swangard Stadium Workouts!

As it gets harder and harder to find public track space in Vancouver, and the demand at existing tracks leads to crowding, the Falcons took things into our own hands and booked a permit to train at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby on Wednesday nights. It’s a new eight-lane track with grandstands, stadium lighting, and our very own change rooms. This is a big step for the club and we hope it can support our members’ goals for 2025.

If you’re also a Vancouverite frustrated with the lack of track access in the city, or maybe you live in East Van or Burnaby and Swangard is a convenient place for you to run, shoot an email to vfaccoach@gmail.com to ask about trying out one of our sessions!

This past weekend, we had a big contingent of Falc This past weekend, we had a big contingent of Falcons representing the club at the Whistler 50 Relay. We raced hard, winning the women’s and men’s races, and with a strong showing in the mixed event. Better yet, the squad rented a few suites in the village and swapped war stories from the race relaxing in the hot tub and over beers at the pub. Doesn’t get much better than this!
Every spring and fall, as our marathoners and half Every spring and fall, as our marathoners and half-marathoners head into their goal events of the season, Coach Kevin programs a big session of race pace running on the Stanley Park Seawall. It’s a workout that requires not only a ton of motivation and energy, but fuel and hydration, too.

That’s why the club comes together and organizes pace groups and bike support for this key session, with Falcons helping their club mates however they can. This weekend, we had runners going between 12km and 28km at race pace in preparation for the Royal Victoria Marathon and events later in the fall. Afterwards, we bonded and refueled over brunch.

It’s just one of the ways our club members support each other and build this community through the pursuit of shared goals.

VFAC teams were stoked to take first place in the female senior division and first and second places in the male senior division.
