2014 BMO Vancouver Half and Full Marathons
VFAC had it’s second female winner in three years in the 2014 BMO Vancouver Marathon. Kimberley Doerksen had the run of her life running away from the female field to record a 6 minute victory in 2:36:59. Her time ranks her with the 2nd fastest female time at the BMO marathon, the 2nd fastest
Canadian female marathon time this year, the
VFAC club record, and 373rd in the
all-athletics.com Women’s Marathon World Ranking List for 2014.
Also running spectacularly well was ultra-running international and former BMO Vancouver Marathon champion Ellie Greenwood who finished second in 2:43:04. This was a build-up race for her as she continues preparing for the
Comrades Marathon in South Africa where she is a contender to win the 89km race where she finished second in 2012.
In addition to these fantastic results, VFAC also managed 10/15 Personal Bests across the 8k, Half, and Full marathon events. 8k: Susan Gordon. Half: Aaron Weidman, Brandon Quinn, Lerly Luo. Full: Kim Doerksen, Bryan Andrews, Anthony Bourdel, Roberto Desandoli, Dave Leiws, and Other.
