H2H Relay: the lost but not forgotten
Stage 1 of my report was lost, hence the delay. Stages 2 to 8 are as follows…..revised results of the H2H Relay are FINALLY up, and congratulations to all 7 teams. They all officially medalled! (ahh, that would be in the set of awards that mattered, have I got that right??). We had the fastest 2 womens teams in the race, with the winning Open Women finishing 11th amongst all teams, and the Masters Women 40+ beating the 2nd place Open Womens team by 4 seconds! The winning Masters Women 50+ team set a record for their division. The 4th place Open Men were only 11 minutes back of the winning overall team, by far the closest we have ever been. The Masters Men were our 4th division winning team, and the Open Mixed teams were 2nd and 5th in their division and in the top 28 teams overall.
Also congratulations to Katrina Driver (fastest Female Stage 2), Joan McGrath (fastest Masters Female Stage 3), Laura De Munain (fastest Female Stage 4), Gillian Fong (fastest Masters Female Stage 4), Rita Ivanauskas (fastest Female and Masters Female Stage 5), and Rob Barber (fastest Masters Male Stage 6) for their Individual Stage awards.
Finally, a big thank you to all of the captains (Jeffery Lopes OM, Natalie Closs/Sue Werner OW, Chris Brandt OMixed 1, Andrew Kamara OMixed SAS, Ernest Hawker MM, Sharon Emslie MW40+, and Lilian Wong MW50+) for all of their great work in pulling these teams together, and their forebearance in dealing with the lost stage histrionics and my constant ranting about same. And, not to be forgotten, Fiona Jenkins, Chris GT Downie, and Ernest Hawker for co-ordinating and the volunteers who stood in the rain to marshall and ensure no one got lost on Stage 8!
